In order for a website to have the Hownd website popup, you must be able to add Javascript which refers to external websites, such as:

<script type=”text/javascript” src=”SOME URL HERE”></script>

Unsupported website tools

The following are a list of website tools which don’t allow this type of Javascript to be added to pages, and thus don’t support the FetchRev website plugin:

  • GoDaddy Website Builder
    • NOTE:  Wordpress and other content management systems hosted on GoDaddy will work
    • GoDaddy v7 will support the plugin, but current versions will not. GoDaddy will add this feature before the end of 2017 so you can add custom HTML to your website.
  • SpaBoom
  • VistaPrint
  • Hibu

Website tools with limited support

The following website tools support the FetchRev website plugin, but with certain restrictions.  Please contact FetchRev support if you’d like to get a plugin installed on one of these websites.

  • Wix (Sticky header/footer only, desktop format only)

If your website builder is not on the list, then the website popup should be installable and fully functional.

The FetchRev website plugin allows you to monetize your website using your FetchRev offers.

Once you have the line of code installed on the backend of your website, you can manage which campaigns show on your website from within FetchRev portal.

  • Click the Plugins tab at the top of your FetchRev portal screen.
    • This will show the current campaigns that are assigned to your website plugin.
  •  Next to each plugin, you’ll see it states which campaigns are currently assigned to that plugin. In order to add or remove a campaign from your plugin, click the Edit button on the right-hand side.
  • Choose Select Campaigns from the left-hand side.
    • On the left-hand side of the screen, you’ll see the campaigns that are currently on the plugin.
  • To remove a campaign, click the x in the right-hand corner of the campaign box.
  • To add campaigns, click the Select Campaign button.
    • This will show you a list of all your active campaigns.
    • Click the campaign(s) you’d like to add to your website plugin.
    • Once clicked it will be added to the list of current campaigns running.
  • When there are multiple campaigns assigned to one plugin, they will show up in this order as a carousel. To change the order, simply click and drag the campaigns.

The website plugin is a javascript code that is added to the HTML of your website. The code only has to be added once and creates a connection between your FetchRev account and your website to display your campaigns as a pop-up on your website.

You can find your plugin code by visiting the Plugin Area inside your FetchRev account and select View Install Code.

Sample Website Code:

<script type=’text/javascript’ src=’https://app.locbox.com/website_plugins/lb-ed27a8cd82f3cd723f4b2d40d74583a10992d162.js’></script>

You can then copy (Ctrl + C) the code and either add it to your website immediately or save it a text file for installation later.

  • The plugin works best when pasted into the HTML file of your website.
  • If you want your plugin to display on every page of your website, we recommend adding it to the header or footer of the page.
  • If you’d like to appear just on your home page, then it works best to add the code to the HTML code near the bottom of your web page’s markup, inside the <body> tag, near the bottom of the page.
Tips on Adding the Plugin:
  • We suggest only using one plugin per page of your website. More than one will overlap and you won’t be able to see your offers. This includes plugins that aren’t related to FetchRev.
  • If your website uses a WSYWIG editor (what you see is what you get), there’s usually a button called Source, Code, or HTML that you can use to toggle to the markup view.
    • Click this, then paste the code at the bottom of the page.

Other Website Editors
If you’re not sure how to add a javascript code to your site, start by searching your website editor’s help files. Adding a script to a website is common enough that a help document most likely exists.

Wix Websites:

Start with this help document from Wix:

Once you’ve added the HTML code element to the page, you will need to drag and resize the element to expand it to fit the plugin. Some testing may be needed to get the plugin looking the way you want.

GoDaddy Websites:

If you have v7, you can check out this help document from the GoDaddy help center: Add HTML Code to a Page

For the time being, newer versions of the GoDaddy website builder will not allow you to add custom HTML. GoDaddy should be releasing this functionality before the end of 2017.

 WordPress Websites:

Due to the highly customizable options in WordPress, these methods may not work on all websites but will work for most customers.

Widget Method:
Here’s a help document from the WordPress Codex that may be of assistance.  The plugin code works best when it’s added to a Text Widget.

Leave the Title of the Widget blank, then paste the code into the main box.

Home Page Method:
If your WordPress site uses pages, you can add the plugin code to the bottom of the source code on the home page of your website.

It’s a way to capture and convert new customers

If a potential new customer is on your website looking for your store hours or location, they’ll see the deals on your plugin the moment they navigate to your site. We recommend having your intro offer set as the first offer on your plugin carousel to attract the most attention from new customers.

It attracts existing customers

Oftentimes, existing customers don’t like going to third-party vendors like Groupon to search for deals from your business. If your offer is sitting on your website’s plugin, it can be more convenient for existing customers to type in your website and buy directly from your homepage!

It’s the most efficient way to capture customer info throughout the year

Setting up a birthday or anniversary collector on your plugin makes it easy for new and current customers to provide their personal information. If they can easily submit their birthday or email, then you can quickly grow your customer list and add more touch points to your offers.

IMPORTANT NOTE
For Buy Now and Coupon campaigns, we highly advise against uploading an image where more than 20% of it is text. This is for two reasons.

If you’re using Facebook Ads, your post can get flagged and pulled – they have some pretty strict image guidelines. They will also flag and pull any posts that they deem offensive (you can check out their site for more info.)
From a marketing and design perspective, any more text is overwhelming to the consumer and hard to read.

Landing Pages
You can use a campaign as a landing page for a special deal rather than sending it out in bulk via email or social media. You would use this if you wanted to have an offer ready to give to customers individually or if you wanted to place the landing page on another website. You can also add the landing page link to any other ad services that you use (ie Google Ads.)

Example: Your customer has come to your place of business over ten times that month. To show your appreciation, you want to give them 20% off a service the next time they come in. Simply manually send them the link to your offer and they can use it the next time they come in.

IN-STORE SIGNUP
Tablets are an awesome way to collect emails from clients. For instance, if you create a coupon offer through FetchRev and display it in-store via a tablet, the customers can simply enter their emails to claim the coupon right at the front desk. Their email will be added to your email list without having to send anything out via email or social media!

FACEBOOK LINKS
On the left side of your business Facebook page, there’s an area where you can Create a Page. Here, you can create a new page titled Specials and post the landing pages to offers that you want customers to see.

GOOGLE
Google allows you to add campaigns to your Google Pages and have your customers claim the offers directly from Google!

YELP
You can send a landing page to your account manager at Yelp. They can then incorporate your offer into your Yelp profile page to get more eyes on the deal. You’ll want to use this with an offer that is running for a while, like a New Client Offer or a month-long special.

5 min. read

Here You’ll Learn:

Understanding what promotions work best for your business starts with the first offering.

We don’t expect you to be an expert on all things marketing, nor should you have to be. If you need help with building offerings, our support team will be ready to guide you through the process.

What are Offerings?

Offerings are not promotions or campaigns. They are descriptions of packages, services, and products your business has to offer (e.g., Family Fun Package, 1-Hour Massage, Happy Hour Menu, Skate Admissions or BYOB Paint Night). Offerings are how you give us permission to start generating new customers for you.

After you submit an offering form and let us know the max discount you are willing to offer, Hownd will then create the individual promos and test different versions for best results.

Discounts work! We recommend setting your max discount at 20% or higher. The higher the discount, the better the performance.

Don’t want to offer a discount?
We get it…but discounts grab your customer’s attention and give them an incentive to act. This means increased sales and performance for you!

Reach out to support@hownd.com if you’d rather run full priced offerings and we’ll handle your concerns.

Here’s how offerings work. Let’s say your business is a skate center and you’re offering Two Skate Admissions and you’re comfortable with a 40% max discount. Hownd will take that information to create promos and test different discounts up to your max threshold. Here’s an example of a Buy Now promo our system may create (see image to the right).

On special holidays or occasions, you don’t have to do anything! We’ll take the same offering to create a themed promo like this. Notice that we updated the image, title and discount.

Similar to Buy Now offerings, you can also create Coupon offerings. The main difference between Buy Nows and Coupons is that Coupons are not pre-purchased by the customer.

How to set up my first offering?

Setting up your first offering is simple. Once you sign up for Hownd, all you need to do is:

  1. Log in and go to the Offerings page.
  2. Click a tile to build a Coupon, Buy Now or Gift Card.
  3. Submit the offering form.

What happens next?

After you build your first offering, we’ll take care of promo creation and distribution. Keep in mind, promos may take 2-3 days to generate. Our system will send your promos to the right customers at the right time initially through:

  • MyHownd® App

What’s the redemption process?

Once customers are at your door, they will show you the promo on the MyHownd app. Guide them through the redemption process.

Be sure to train your frontline staff.
Redeeming prevents reuse, something especially important for purchased promos!

Prompt customers to “Mark as Redeemed” if promo is valid.

Ask customers to swipe toggle to confirm redemption.

Once confirmed, they can no longer use this promo.

Review the confirmation screen to prevent fraud:

  • Look for the animated checkmark.
  • Confirm timestamp and promo details are accurate.
For redemption, you do not need to do a thing besides validating the promo and reviewing the confirmation and redemption screens on the consumers’ phones.

Merchants that import a customer list can expect 9x the revenue of those that don’t import a customer list. ($647 on average vs. $71 on average)

Hownd allows you to import your client email addresses (and other data) automatically from an email provider (see Integrations) or manually from a Comma Separated Values (.csv) file.

To Import a Customer List:

  1. Click on Customers at the top of the page.
  2. Then, under Upload from List, click Choose File.
  3. Select a Comma Separated Values (.csv) file from your computer, read & click the confirmation box, and click Import. You should receive a notification on the top of the page to let you know that your list was successfully imported.
